Image posts are to link directly to the image, not to landing pages, personal galleries, blogs, or professional sites.

If you have done a drastic alteration or reprocessing of a prior submission, you may repost your edit - but only after a minimum of one week has passed. Images acquired from public sources, professional observatories, or other professional services are not allowed. The prosumer line of Canon cameras do not offer significant advantages for astronomy over the less expensive and lighter weight models and I often recommend one of those lesser expensive models to dedicate to astrophotography rather than modifying the family DSLR for astronomical work. Image posts can only be images that you have captured and processed yourself, or discussion about capturing and/or processing your own images.

Images must be an accurate representation of a real astronomical object. Images that show objects or people below the Kármán Line (100km) will be removed. Leaving them in the camera is a good way to accidentally lose valuable images and be kicking yourself afterwards.Welcome to /r/astrophotography! | New? Don't forget to read the rules! | User equipment threads | Project Patchwork | Public Data thread. To download firmware updates and install them on the EOS XSi /450D, follow these steps: 1. Upload them all and copy them to a backup medium then winnow them down as needed. Virtually all serious photographers use card readers, and a card reader will solve your problem the first time you plug it in.īTW, don't be selective about which pictures you upload to the computer. I forget whether your 450D uses a CF card or an SD card, but almost any card reader made today will read either. They're inexpensive and easy to use, and it's very difficult to buy the "wrong one". So if I want a single image off camera I have to transfer everything and then delete all but one I want.Tedious.įorgive me for putting it so bluntly, but your aversion to a card reader is silly. I tried the select and transfer function on camera menu but that did not work.

I went back and downloaded free EOS Utility software but it made no difference. So I had no further control in selecting images to transfer. But I did not get EOS Utility screen on laptop nor the Direct transfer screen on camera. The free software will transfer images automatically and will transfer only new images - so that is good.
